Reports for Meeting

The Working for Racial Justice Group is calling all members of First Church to put our convictions into action and speak truth to power at this time of crisis in our community. The Connecticut State Legislature will meet in a special session to address the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as well as the recent uprisings against white supremacy and police brutality. CONECT, a group including many local churches that share our values, has asked us to contact our state legislators and Gov. Lamont to make sure that our moral priorities as communities of faith are being raised up, so that the legislature will make decisions that do justice to our most vulnerable neighbors. Please use the link here to sign up for a topic to write a letter or make a phone call about. Your voice is necessary and important!"

Youth Summer Service Project

For many years, First Church middle and high schoolers have traveled all over the country to serve, from summer camp on the reservation in South Dakota to the Trail of Hope in NY.  This summer is different.  Instead of traveling far to serve the larger community, this year you will have the opportunity to serve your neighbors right at home.   We have put together a list of service opportunities, which include working at the church, outdoors on an Aspetuck Land Trust preserve, making videos for Simply Smiles Online Summer Camp, and other projects in the comfort of your own home.  Alone or in small groups, following church guidelines for physical distancing but with a connected sense of purpose, we will strive to bring the energy of our summer service trip to Fairfield, our own backyard.
