The Music Ministry of First Church uplifts our worship through congregational, choral, and instrumental music. All are welcome to participate in our Chancel & Festival Choirs, our Bell Choir, and our Children’s Choir. Here a bit of our music ministry here.
There are opportunities for everyone to become involved in our music ministry. Our Chancel Choir sings a wide variety of choral repertoire each Sunday during the program year, and rehearses weekly on Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. The ensemble is open to adults as well as high school or college students. Members of our Chancel Choir made their Carnegie Hall debut as an ensemble in June 2026. f you are interested but can’t make the ongoing commitment, consider joining us for Christmas and/or Easter as the Festival Choir. Our Handbell Choir welcomes all who wish to learn to make music with handbells, a fun and accessible way to make music. This ensemble rehearses about two times a month and rings in worship several times a year. The first rehearsal for Fall 2026 is on September 10 at 5:30.
Our elementary-age Children’s Choir rehearses each Sunday from 9:15-10:00 AM and sings in worship several times a year. The first rehearsal for Fall 2026 will be on Sunday, Sept. 20.Middle and high school youth and adult instrumentalists are encouraged to offer their gifts in worship as well. In August 2026, First Church welcomed
Our Music in the Meetinghouse concert series are set in our historic sanctuary, which features our 2010 Klais pipe organ and Steinway piano to bring a variety of meaningful music to our community, Throughout the year, other community groups perform regularly in our sanctuary. Recent performances include the Connecticut Chamber Choir, Fairfield County Children’s Choir, Fairfield County Chorale, and Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut, among others.
The schedule for our Fall 2026 Concert Series is set and we are pleased to announce our September and November programs.

Children and Youth Choir
Music education is a valued part of First Church’s Christian education program. All children in our Sunday School, Disciple Road, experience music on a recurring basis, and participate in our annual Christmas Pageant. All elementary and middle-school aged children are encouraged to participate in Children’s Choir, which rehearses from 9:15 to 10:00 each Sunday during the school year.
