The Music Ministry of First Church uplifts our worship through congregational, choral, and instrumental music. All are welcome to participate in our Chancel & Festival Choirs, our Bell Choir, and our Children’s Choir.
Our Music in the Meetinghouse concert series utilizes our historic sanctuary, 2010 Klais pipe organ, and Steinway piano to bring a variety of meaningful music to our community, Throughout the year, other community groups perform regularly in our sanctuary. Recent performances include the Connecticut Chamber Choir, Fairfield County Children’s Choir, Fairfield County Chorale, and Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut, among others.
We are pleased to be the only house of worship in the state of Connecticut included in an official Cultural District, due to our historic building and vibrant arts programming.

Our Ensembles

Chancel Choir (9th Grade–Adult)
Our Chancel Choir sings a wide variety of choral repertoire each Sunday during the program year, and rehearses weekly on Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:00 PM. The ensemble is open to adults as well as high school or college students. Rehearsals for 2025-2026 begin September 4. Repertoire and rehearsal resources can be seen here.
If you are interested but can’t make the ongoing commitment, consider joining us for Christmas and/or Easter as the Festival Choir. Contact Dr. Frank Martignetti, Director of Music and Organist, for more information.

Children and Youth Choir
Music education is a valued part of First Church’s Christian education program. All children in our Sunday School, Disciple Road, experience music on a recurring basis, and participate in our annual Christmas Pageant. All elementary and middle-school aged children are encouraged to participate in Children’s Choir, which rehearses from 9:15 to 10:00 each Sunday during the school year.
For more information please contact: Bethany Dupuis, Children’s Music Leader.
