Our Programs for Children
Our faith formation programs and children’s ministry are led by Kim Feeney, Minister of Children and Families. Kim is happy to talk to parents and caregivers interested in enrolling children in our vibrant Sunday School programs as well as our annual Vacation Bible School, children’s programming and service projects and our Vacation Bible School, held annually for one week each June. Infants and Toddlers
(3 months to 3 years)
Children are always welcome in our sanctuary, but we also offer a cozy nursery staffed with a professional babysitter and parent helpers every Sunday from 10-11:30 a.m.
Preschool
(4-5 years)
Through play, bible stories, art, music, and prayer to activate faith. Children start in classroom at 10:15 a.m.
Disciple Road
(K-5th Grade)
Biblical based rotation model with storytelling, art, music, games, and cooking. Children leave the Sanctuary with teachers during the 10:15 a.m. service following the children’s sermon.
Middle Road
(6th-8th Grade)
Children leave the Sanctuary with teachers during the 10:15 a.m. service following the children’s sermon. Children explore faith formation through community service project activities, bible study and are offered opportunities to attend different houses of worship.
Communion on the First Sunday of the Month
All children are welcome at the Lord’s Table to receive the sacrament of communion when it is offered on the first Sunday of each month during the 10:15 a.m. service. On these Sundays, children begin their morning in Disciple Road and then enter the sanctuary to join their families.
CoNFirmation
Preparation for confirmation for eighth and ninth grade students will run from October to May. Our confirmation celebration is scheduled for Sunday, May 4. Prospective confirmands are encouraged to contact The Rev. Vanessa Rose to register at vrose@firstchurchfairfield.org.
Events for Children
SERVICE PROJECT SUNDAYS
Disciple Road participants gather once a month to assist with a community-oriented service project.
BIBLE SUNDAY
Third graders receive their Bibles and participate in a Bible workshop with one of our pastors.
ADVENT FAMILY WORKSHOP
We gather for a potluck meal and to decorate our Reverse Advent Box.
CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
The children in Disciple Road lead us in worship during our 4 p.m. Christmas Eve service where they retell the story of Christ’s birth in costume.
MARDI GRAS PANCAKE DINNER & LENTEN GIVING BOXES
Annual Family Celebration to begin the season of Lent that includes the creation of Lenten Giving Boxes and also fundraise for upcoming youth service trips.
EASTER EGG HUNT
Annual Easter Egg Hunt between the 9am and 11am Easter morning worship services for children ages 10 and under.
CELEBRATION SUNDAY
A festive and fun gathering to celebrate the end of the church school year with the entire congregation held each June.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
A week-long summer program where children experience God’s love through crafts, play, music and more.
Our Programs for Youth
Our High School Youth Group meets weekly on Thursday nights with Greenfield Hill Congregational Church’s SPF (Senior Pilgrim Fellowship). We participate with them in an annual trip to ASP (Appalachia Service Project) and we would love to include you and your teens. Those interested should contact our pastor, The Rev.
